The conference Future is in the Sun! was held in Sarajevo on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, dedicated to solar power plants and systems, their specifics, possibilities of installation and use in companies and households and their importance for energy sustainability as an indispensable part of the transition energy sources.
The fact that the conference, online via the Zoom platform and in the hall, was attended by a large number of interested people from the real sector, as well as private users, shows that this is a topic of great interest to the government. The conference was organized by ProCredit Bank BH and Comtrade Distribution, as partners that naturally complement each other in completing this process for business and private users.
At the all-day event, experts in this field answered questions about solar power plants as renewable energy sources and opened new topics crucial for the processes of decentralization and democratization of the electricity sector. Eldar Tunjić, USAID EPA, spoke in his presentation on how to facilitate investment in renewable energy and USAID assistance activities in the energy sector. Edin Karačić, Product Manager of Comtrade Distribution, spoke about solar systems, electricity prices in BiH for households and industry, as well as the solar equipment market and the implementation of solar systems.
Armin Đuliman from OIEiEK spoke in detail about the legal framework for the use of solar energy in BiH, while Ines Amitović from ProCredit Bank BH explained how to support investments in solar power plants and renewable energy sources.
On this topic, Amina Durmo Trlin, Member of the Management Board of ProCredit Bank BH, said: “Our experience in the past three or four years shows that this type of investment was mainly small and medium enterprises, due to diversification and secure long-term return. With stable core business. , the investment in FNE (photovoltaic power plants) was seen by the companies as an opportunity for an additional source of income. However, with the announced change of circumstances, we expect that other companies will definitely have this need, and today’s number of attendees who declared themselves interested in the construction of solar power plants further strengthens this belief, “said Durmo Trlin during a panel discussion, adding that in the last 3 months, a meeting with a company that was not the topic of FNE’s investment was rarely held. It is clear that there is a general interest among all businessmen, with the most pronounced interest from producers involved in energy-intensive industries, and by building their own FNEs they would have the greatest effect in reducing electricity costs.
Amer Jerlagić from SHPP, Aleksandar Jegdić from RERS and Armin Đuliman also participated in the panel. The panel moderator, Dr. Mirza Kušljugić, President of the Board of the Center for Sustainable Energy Transition ReSET, with an exceptional set of very focused and focused questions for participants covered the entire topic from the interests of investors, project development and investment methods, through possible barriers and challenges to technology. economic analysis of projects and technical and financial support for the construction of FNE. Manuela Naessl, Head of the Office of the European Development Bank in BiH (EBRD), also contributed to the discussion with a presentation on investing in the construction of solar panels for companies.
